Clinical research progress on rest-activity rhythm in patients with neurodegenerative diseases

Rest-activity rhythm (RAR) is not only the fundamental basis for maintaining normal physical activities, but also a basic biomarker for the the assessment of health status. Previous studies related to RAR have been primarily conducted in animal models, especially the non-primate animals, such as C. elegans, drosophila and rodents, etc. With the development of science and technology and digital technology, clinical trials related to RAR can be carried out. In this article, clinical research progress on RAR in the neurodegenerative diseases was reviewed. The application of objective methods including ActiGraph was introduced. The research status of RAR in patients with neurodegenerative diseases was mainly described.
