MicroRNA (miRNA) plays an important role in regulating the repairing of cranio-maxillofacial bone defects. Recent studies have shown that miRNAs participate in bone repairing and remodeling through direct or indirect effect. Mechanical force, pathway regulation, inflammatory cytokines and other factors enhance the complexity and diversity of the regulation of miRNA cranio-maxillofacial bone remodeling. In this article, the mechanism underlying the role miRNA in cranio-maxillofacial bone remodeling was summarized, and its regulation in cranio-maxillofacial bone remodeling was reviewed from three aspects of mechanical stimulation, pathway regulation and inflammatory cytokines.
