Abstract:
0bjective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of smoking cessation on High Sensitivity C-reactive Protein,Fibrinogen and femoral artery intima-media thickness of patients with lower extremity arterial disease in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with lower extremity arterial disease in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomized into 2 groups: smoking group and smoking cessation group with 60 examples respectively. Hs-CRP、FIB and femoral artery intima media thickness xamination was carried out by echocardiography and hemodynamic studies before smoking cessation and three months 、twelve months after smoking cessation. Results : Three months after smoking cessation Hs-CRP、FIB changes, after twelve months blood examination shows a significantly decreased in Hs-CRP、FIB , in addition, the studies also shows a significantly improvement in comparison with smoking control group , femoral artery intima media thickness dose not change three months later (0.89±0. 21 vs 0.91±0.16)and one year after smoking cessation echocardiography revealed the femoral artery intima media thickness was significantly lower in the smoking cessation group than that in the smoking control groups(0.82±0. 13 vs 0.89±0.17,P<0 05). Conclusion : Smoking cessation results in improvement in Hs-CRP、FIB. One year after smoking cessation artery intima media thickness was decreased , but a short-time smoking cessation dose not benefit carotid femoral artery intima- media thickness of patient with lower extremity arterial disease in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus.
